Led by producer/engineer John D.S. Adams, Stonehouse Sound is dedicated to the artists and strives to surpass both creative and technical expectations on every recording. High caliber artists such as Yo Yo Ma, Les Violons du Roy, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Old Man Luedecke, The Northern Pikes and the Gryphon Trio have all relied on the expertise and efficiency of Stonehouse Sound to capture the artistry and integrity of their work.

Stonehouse Sound provides a no-compromise mobile recording solution scalable to any project in any location across the country—from small ensembles in a remote cabin to full orchestras and choirs in concert halls and churches. Our expertise is diverse, with multiple awards and nominations for productions in orchestral/classical music (Tafelmusik, NAC Orchestra, Suzie LeBlanc), jazz (Emilie-Claire Barlow, Jane Bunett, Joel Miller), folk/pop/rock (Old Man Luedecke, The Northern Pikes) and new music (John Cage, Eve Egoyan, David Tudor), as well as television and film production (Bravo!, 90th Parallel Productions, Tafelmusik Media).

Stonehouse Sound is now capable of recording and mixing your project in Dolby Atmos immersive audio. We are also authorized by Apple to provide “Apple Digital Master” files allowing clients to badge their music accordingly on Apple Music.

John D.S. Adams

Recording producer/engineer John D.S. Adams has been passionate about sound for 30 years. His artistic collaborations vary widely across the disciplines of recording, design and performance. As a producer/engineer Adams has worked with James Ehnes, John Cage, Neil Young, Jane Bunnett, The Northern Pikes, The Getty Center, Kevin Fox, Afie Jurvanen, to name a few. Many of these collaborations have resulted in multiple JUNO awards and nominations. Adams’ sound designs have been commissioned by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Blue Rider Ensemble, composer Peter Hatch, choreographer Yvonne Ng and Barishnykov’s White Oak Dance Project.

Also a specialist in experimental electronic music, Adams has performed throughout the world from the Paris Opera Garnier to the Lincoln Centre, and had the privilege of working with some of the great musical pioneers of our time, including John Cage, David Tudor, Takehisa Kosugi, Steve Lacy, Stuart Dempster, and Pauline Oliveros.

From 2007–2009 John was the Senior Recording Engineer at The Banff Centre, where he mentored young up and coming audio engineers and oversaw hundreds of recordings . In addition to his work with Stonehouse Sound, John is also the Senior Producer for the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance.
